...and I'm an artist

Sky discovered her passion for dance at the age of 19 – training in competitive latin ballroom from 2012 till 2020 under the tutelage of Mr Nicolas Garcia, becoming a Pre-Amateur finalist in Singapore. From 2019 - 2020, she dedicated her time as a part time instructor and intern with Dancers Dream Studio.

She enrolled in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 2018 to pursue a full time career in dance, specializing in both ballet and contemporary. With various platforms, she has been involved in performances such as NAFA Dancers @ Work, under student choreographers, Esplanade Dans Festival: The Third Space, and The Third Space 2020, under international and local artist Ming Poon (‘Unison’), Yarra Ileto ('Home.Body') and Norisham Osman ('Rasa Jiwa'). She has also been involved in other productions such as NAFA Alumni Production (‘归’) by Goh Jia Yin and The Presence Project (‘Insistence and Burn’) by Peter Gn. In her final semester she has performed in Crossings 2021 - ('Embracing the distance, the void between us matters') by senior lecturer Gillian Tan.

Her own student work, “Persevere” was selected to feature in NAFA 2019 Dancers @ Work. One of her works, “Architecture”, was done in collaboration with NAFA music students. One of her final year work, “Xie Soh Mian”, was shown in The Third Space 2020. She also collaborated with NAFA music composer for Crossings 2021 for her graduation piece, "...but before we get there, someone moves."

Since graduating, she has also produced new works such as “Them.” in collaboration with fellow artist Adly Azizi Azamin. It was presented in Kaleidoscope showcase under Sigma Contemporary Dance. Under LAB = Music x Dance by *SCAPE, she was also provided with the opportunity to continue performing and collaborating with choreographer Sharul Mohammed and musician Sherman Lee to produce a new collaborative work, “Komorebi”.

​She was part of Kirishima Dance Corps from 2021 to early 2022, within the collective she has been involved in various works such as theatrical dance “You Are My Boy” by Lenzo Lim, “素性” and Mauve by Xenres Chi under different platforms.

In line with inspiring new generation of dancers, Sky freelances as an MOE registered instructor with various schools in multiple genres including ethnic dance and creative based movements.
